Swiss Mushroom Pie

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 1 (15 ounce) package refrigerated pie pastry
  • 1 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 lb swiss cheese, sliced

Recipe

  • 1 line a 9" pie plate with bottom pastry; trim the edge even.
  • 2 in a skillet, saute the mushrooms and onion in butter; drain.
  • 3 arrange half of the cheese slices in the crust.
  • 4 top with half of the mushroom mixture; repeat layers.
  • 5 place remaining pastry over the filling; trim, seal and flute edges.
  • 6 cut slits in the top.
  • 7 bake at 350* for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 8 let stand for 10 minutes.
  • 9 cut into wedges.
  • 10 enjoy!
  • 11 note: i think more onion, maybe 1 tablespoon total and perhaps 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg added would be good, too.
