Steak And Navy Bean Casserole

Ingredients

- 2 lbs round steaks, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cups cooked but still firm navy beans
- 1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes
- salt and pepper
- 2 cups sliced onions
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 5 slices bacon
Recipe
- 1 in a large frying pan,cook round steak in oil until browned; add beans, tomatoes, and salt and pepper to taste; cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
- 2 spoon half of the mixture into a 2-quart casserole; spread onions over the bean mixture, then sprinkle with half the brown sugar.
- 3 add remaining half of bean mixture, sprinkle with remaining sugar.
- 4 lay strips of bacon over the top.
- 5 bake, uncovered, in a 325° oven for about 1 hour.
