The Best Damned Fried Banana Peppers Ever

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 10 banana peppers (washed, sliced lengthwise and seeds removed)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup saltine crackers, crushed
  • vegetable oil (for frying)

Recipe

  • 1 heat vegetable oil in frying pan over medium heat.
  • 2 in medium bowl, mix together equal parts corn meal and crushed saltines.
  • 3 prepare another shallow bowl of buttermilk.
  • 4 dip banana peppers in buttermilk.
  • 5 coat with cornmeal/cracker mixture.
  • 6 fry in veg oil over medium heat until golden brown.
  • 7 drain/cool slightly on paper towels.
  • 8 enjoy alone or with cocktail sauce!
