Tomato Chutney

Ingredients
- 1 kg ripe tomato, roughly chopped
- 3 onions, chopped
- 2 apples, peeled, cored & chopped
- 1 pear, peeled & chopped
- 2 3/4 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon mixed spice
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
Recipe
- 1 slowly bring all ingredients to the boil in a large saucepan, stir until sugar dissolves, reduce heat.
- 2 simmer, covered for approx 2 hours or until mixture is thick, stirring occasionally.
- 3 allow to stand for 5 mins before spooning into sterilised jars. seal immediately.
- 4 when cool, label & date.
