The Best Pie Crust Recipe

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup ice water

Recipe

  • 1 combine flour and salt in medium sized bowl.
  • 2 cut in butter and shortening with pastry blender or fork.
  • 3 add water a little bit at a time, using a fork or hands to blend.
  • 4 stop adding water when dough is able to stay in a ball.
  • 5 lightly flour a flat surface and rolling pin.
  • 6 press ball of dough into a flat disk, place onto floured surface.
  • 7 roll dough beginning in middle and pushing outward.
  • 8 roll dough onto rolling pin, then unroll over pie pan.
  • 9 for unfilled pie ('blind' baking): preheat oven to 400 degrees, bake for 8-10 minutes.
